Double Delight: Combo Dome Home and Guest Cottage in Pennsylvania for $1.5M

A dome home that fulfilled the owner’s dream, along with a rustic cottage that’s popular on Airbnb, is now for sale in Zion Grove, PA. The list price is $1,590,000.
“It was my parents’ property. It was my father’s dream to build it. He was a very creative person,” says daughter and listing agent Sandra Domenico, who’s with Keller Williams Real Estate. Construction took two years, and the building was completed in 2008.
“My mom was pretty good at letting him do his dreams,” Domenico continues. “He was a general contractor and hired some people to help him.”

The result is a 3,750-square-foot, three-bedroom, and four-bathroom dome.
“It’s pretty amazing. The inside has very nice hardwood, and it has just beautiful features like the windows and fireplace,” Domenico says.
“The views are phenomenal. You’re looking at the mountains, the pond, and everything around you is just really beautiful.”

Three squared-off sections spoke off of the geodesic dome and house the kitchen, entrance, and fireplace areas. The basement adds an additional 2,500 square feet.
“When you first walk in, it’s just open. It’s like you’re walking into a planetarium, with that feeling of a big, round, open ceiling,” Domenico says.

Close by is a log cottage the owners lived in while building the dome. The 1,448-square-foot abode has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It’s a popular vacation rental, going for about $175 a night.
“It just started out as something that [my mom] wanted to do to let people experience the property,” Domenico explains.
A greenhouse and barn are also part of the deal.
All of the structures sit on 102 acres of land, which Domenico says is perfect for horses, hunting, or exploring.
But if you wanted to turn the whole place into an event space, that could be an option, too.
“Someone had talked about doing events, since it’s a two-level barn, and renting both the dome and the cottage to host weddings and different things like that,” she says. “I think there are a whole bunch of opportunities there. It’s got a lot of potential.”

Both the barn and the dome have a well for water, and there are 35 solar panels to power the property.
Sadly, Domenico’s father died just six months after completing his dream dome. Her mother has lived there ever since.
“It’s a beautiful place,” she says. “My parents did a great job on it.”
